Project Description
PCL constructed this four-lane bridge over Glade Creek in the Mountains of West Virginia. The overall length of the bridge is 2,180 feet with truss spans of 560 feet, 785 feet, and 560 feet. The two main piers are 350 feet and 300 feet tall and were formed and poured with self-climbing jump forms. Access made the bridge construction technically-challenging, especially in the winter when flooding occurred in the creek. The PCL team used a cableway suspension system to "stick-frame" the trusses forming the superstructure of this landmark bridge.
