14th Street ICWW Bascule Bridge Rehab (Design/Build)

The 14th Street Bridge project was a design-build bascule bridge rehabilitation that included major structural steel replacement, hydraulic refurbishment, electrical modifications, and safety and aesthetic improvements.  The original scope included patching existing steel members.  However, our innovative approach included replacing structural steel floorbeams, stringers, sidewalk brackets, grating and barrier wall.  This project was delivered on an aggressive schedule with minimal closure time to reduce impacts to the traveling public.  The aggressive approach to the project allowed the project team to achieve the maximum allowable closure bonus.  In addition, this project received the 2007 Design-Build Institute Award for Rehabilitation/Renovation/Restoration.
